Apple’s MagSafe Battery Pack launches for iPhone 12 models
The new MagSafe Battery Pack uses MagSafe technology, a series of magnets in the iPhone 12 family, to easily attach to the phone’s back magnetically. All iPhone 12 models are compatible with the accessory, with iOS 14.7 or later required for software support. Unfortunately, the MagSafe Battery Pack uses slow wireless charging at just five watts of power even though latest iPhones support faster Qi and MagSafe wireless charging at higher wattages.
Like the versions for older iPhones, the iPhone 12 edition features a Lightning port for charging the product’s built-in battery. And with passthrough charging, you can charge both the battery pack and its iPhone simultaneously.
Because this is an Apple product, it tightly integrates with your iPhone to show the battery percentage on the lock screen and in the Battery widget. You can also use a USB-C PD 20-watt adapter to charge the internal battery quicker.

The iPhone 12 models released in October and November 2020 so Apple’s first-party accessory is a bit late to the party considering the next iPhone is just around the corner. But provided phone dimensions won’t change, the iPhone 12 version of the battery pack will most likely work on your iPhone 13 as well.
