The iDB team takes its coverage of jailbreak tweaks and other jailbreak or device hacking content very seriously, but if you want a quick overview of everything that happened in the past week, then you’ve come to the right place.

Weekly jailbreak news roundup.

In this roundup, we’ll be showing you everything that happened in this department during the week of Monday, July 24th to Sunday, July 30th.

Important stuff from this week

KFD to make MacDirtyCow-like add-ons possible on iOS 16.5

iPhone hacked matrix.

One of the best things about having a powerful kernel read/write process on newer firmware, such as kernel file descriptor (kfd), is that you can still use it to customize iOS & iPadOS in the absence of a jailbreak.

Many developers are already working to bring MacDirtyCow-like add-ons to newer firmware, such as the likes of iOS 16.5, which doesn’t support the MacDirtyCow exploit.

You can find out more about how kfd might emulate the MacDirtyCow exploit in our full news post.

StoreSwitcher 2

StoreSwitcher 2

The StoreSwitcher 2 jailbreak tweak allows the user to easily switch between multiple Apple ID accounts in their iPhone’s native App Store app.

The tweak adds a button to the top left of the App Store interface for making the switch, which brings you to a list of previously-used Apple ID accounts.

SwipeExtenderX gets rootless support

SwipeExtenderX

SwipeExtenderX is a jailbreak tweak that helps you get more done from your iPhone’s keyboard interface by incorporating a plethora of useful functions into your keys that can be invoked with a swipe gesture.

Just this past week, SwipeExtenderX received an update that brought it up to speed with rootless jailbreaks on iOS 15 and 16, such as Dopamine and palera1n.

You can find out more about this, as well as how to install it, in our full review post.

libpatchfinder ready for iOS 16

iPhone hacked matrix.

Tihmstar’s libpatchfinder project on GitHub is ready to find offsets on iOS 16, an announcement made just this week following the exciting news of an ambitious project to achieve kernel read and write capabilities on firmware up to iOS & iPadOS 16.5.

Currently, we only need a PPL bypass to achieve a jailbreak on this firmware, which could be good news for the community, however until that happens, we remain gridlocked without an iOS 16 jailbreak.

You can learn more about the libpatchfinder announcement in our full news post.

CC UI for MacDirtyCow

CC UI is a refreshing new look for Control Center for MacDirtyCow devices.

You can use the CC UI add-on for the MacDirtyCow exploit to change the icon glyphs you’re accustomed to seeing in the Control Center interface.

CC UI works by utilizing an exploit that achieves elevated privileges all on its own, so it doesn’t require a jailbreak and supports iOS 15.x-16.1.2 devices.

You can learn more about CC UI and how it works in our full review post.
